Playa Chiquita is situated between Puerto Viejo and Manzanillo. Made up of mostly European foreigners, this charming small community has attracted many families with young children. The beaches offer safe swimming with natural pools forming within the exposed coral reefs at low tides.

Other then the spectacular beach, the community of Playa Chiquita is what attracts many of its residents. A small Waldorf style school has been established, where many of the children attend everyday. Because of the international community, most children speak two. three, sometimes four languages at a young age.

An organic farmer's market is open every Saturday for localsa to buy and sell some of their fruits, vegatables, breads and more.

There are several excellent hotels, including Shawandha Lodge, Playa Chiquita Lodge and Miraflores. Restaurants include the open air space at Shawandha, Elena's classic Caribbean cooking and fine Italian at El Duende Feliz.
