Punta
Uva is internationally recognized as one of the world's
most beautiful beaches by several leading publications including
Outdoor magazine. It is very safe for swimming, as the point
and the coral reefs protect the ocean waves from reaching
the shore. Some of the best snorkeling in the country occurs
just off the point.
The beaches of Punta Uva are within the Gandoca-Manzanillo
Wildlife Refuge, hence they are eternally protected from
development. In addition, properties in Punta Uva tend to
be larger since the refuge prohibits the sale of smaller
lots in order to minimize the human impact on wildlife.
The
internationally community of Punta Uva is made up primarily
of Americans and Europeans, particulalry French and Spanish.
There
are several smaller Bed & Breakfasts including Casa
Viva and Pachama. Restaurants include Selvin's classic Caribbean
cooking and a new Italian opening up soon.
